Game 5 Postponed

A couple of weeks ago I lamented the fact that the 2009 World Series is scheduled to last into November. Now I am wondering whether the 2008 one will run that long as well:

Game Five of the 2008 World Series will not resume tonight due to inclement weather. Game Five is now tentatively scheduled to resume on Wednesday evening at 8:37 p.m. (ET), weather permitting.

Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig said: "While obviously we want to finish Game Five as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening. We are closely monitoring tomorrow's forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to tomorrow's schedule."
So, does this make it any more likely that Cole Hamels will be able to come back for a Game 6?

Not Game 6, but *certainly* a game 7.

Ah, nothing like pushing back the game to push back the drama. Fox and the Bud just can't let the 2008 season die . . .

In all seriousness, though, what happens if 8:37 rolls around tonight, and there is not a drop of rain???

That's what I want to know, but I guess they didn't want to bring out everyone for nothing. Still, I think people would make it out to the game. They could also call it earlier if it did really start to rain.

You know, at the risk of sounding all sappy and everything, I really hate to see a season like we just had come to a close wallowing in a rain puddle like this. I mean, this has been a great, great season. Lots of good players having great years, and lots of good teams playing great baseball. To see the World Series suffer from these blunders from The Commissioner and the Umpires kind of breaks my heart. I understand that rain will fall, and I accept that. What I am struggling with is how the Guys In Charge are screwing it all up.
