Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?

Attendance dropped 1.1 percent in 2008. As others have noted, revenue numbers are what matter more, and it's not at all clear yet if that has gone down as much it at all.

Of course, based on both the recent financial apocalypse and the notion that baseball sometimes lags a year when a downturn comes, 2009 may be where the rubber really hits the road.

Attendance will drop substantially next year if only because the capacity at both NYC stadiums will decrease. I wonder if any of the articles about baseball attendance will take that into account.
