The Boston Herald's Tony Massarotti breaks down the 2004 Red Sox vs. the 2007 Red Sox, concluding that the 2004 Sox would win a series between the two teams in six games.
The column reminds me of the old Bill Swerski skits on SNL. Massarotti should have just teamed up with a couple other Boston guys and ended it like this:
Simmons: Now, gentlemen, let me ask you this: What if Da Sox were all 14 inches tall, you know, about so high? Who would win?
Massarotti: Against Da Rockies?
Simmons: Yes, give 'em a handicap.
Massarotti: Sox over Rockies in six games.
Shaughnessy: Yeah, it would be a good series. Mini Sox over Rockies 4-2.
Massarotti: What about Papelbon? Would he be mini, too?
Simmons: No, he would be full-grown.
Massarotti: Oh, then, uh.. Mini Sox win 4-1.
