The Patient Is Suffering Needlessly
The latest on the delayed demolition of Tiger Stadium from NYT's Joe LaPointe. Though I love the place like my childhood home, I'm on record as wishing it would have been imploded in 2000 or 2001. One look at the weed covered grass in LaPointe's story will tell you why.

Talk about a baseball cathedral becoming a mausoleum.
Here, of course, is the problem with bureacracy. Two sides: one wants the stadium demolished, and the other wants it preserved. Because they cannot agree, neither happens. The reporters are probably lucky they didn't have to kick out squatters to take their pictures, from the looks of it.
The weed filled grass is depressing, but even more depressing is seeing those sturdy columns silently waiting to support crowds again.
