The Florida Marlins announced Tuesday that the new 37,000-seat retractable roof stadium on the site of the Orange Bowl will not be ready for Opening Day 2011 as the team originally had hoped. Instead, team officials said, the stadium will open in 2012 . . .And if the Dolphins say no, it's the 1899 Cleveland Spiders redux!

The team is optimistic it can work out an agreement to remain at Dolphin Stadium for an additional year. Samson said the organization already has begun preliminary talks with Dolphins co-owner Stephen Ross to extend the team's lease.

IG: I had never heard of that before. I was thinking more along the lines of "All these worlds are yours, except Europa. Attempt no landing there. Use them together. Use them in peace."
That's the Twins' new stadium, though.
You know, there must be a good "the marlins will get their stadium when the world ends" joke in there.
