Your Dumb Idea of the Day

A's owner Lew Wolff has a fairly dumb idea:

Lew Wolff has a way to shorten baseball's postseason: Make the first round best-of-one. "I'd make it one-game-and-you're-out for the first series," the Oakland Athletics owner said Wednesday. "It would be exciting. It would be great."
This coming from a guy whose team, perhaps more than any other, has been harmed by the depth-penalizing format of short-series playoff baseball.

APBA Guy-

This would have been a great idea for the A's when Giambi and Miggy were here.

Now he should focus on a new stadium and getting the A's back to the playoffs.

Since Billy Beane, Wolfe, et al have become such big Premier League fans (Beane's team is Tottenham, until recently mired in last place with only 2 points, they changed coaches and are now next-to-last), he should be paying attention to Arsenal's approach: with a very young team, leavened by a few key veterans, they regularly make the Champions League later rounds which earns them the cash to pay off their new stadium. Once the stadium is paid off it will allow them to compete financially with the major revenue clubs like Man U.

I'm sure this was a throw away line for Wolfe, but let's focus on that new stadium, shall we?

APBA Guy;

You may already know this, but things appear to be moving ahead on the stadium in Fremont. Maury Brown has a post today about the Environmental Impact Report moving forward. Yesterday there were a handful of reports on Wolfe's intent to start ballpark construction sans the related real estate development ( which was to fund the ballpark construction in his original master plan ).
