Baseball's Biggest A-Holes

Cracked.com writes up "11 Baseball Legends Who Were Legendary Assholes." A lot of it is obvious and crass -- and I'm not certain that Keith Hernandez doesn't have a lawsuit available to him for some of the stuff in there about him -- but most entries have something clever to recommend them, like this bit about Charles Comiskey:

Comiskey is best known for being the former owner of the Chicago White Sox, and for their field which was named after him, before it was changed to U.S. Cellular Field in honor of Ulysses Stanton Cellular.
How someone can mix in good dry stuff like that with so much pointless obscenity is beyond me, but on balance it's probably worth reading for the good stuff.

By the way, whatever happened to Sylvester P. Smythe?

honestly, kids today with their language. foul language has no place in a sport like baseball.

Hmm, nary a Bob Feller reference to be seen. You'd think they could have Photoshopped him into one of the Clemens pics...

Ken -- I'm not anti-profanity. It's not a prude thing. I'm just a proponent of selective profanity. Increases the emphasis, ya know?

Sara -- I draw a pretty firm line between "ass" (e.g Bob Feller) and an "asshole" which I consider to be someone with far worse behavior. An "ass" is someone who just says annoying or rude things all the time. An asshole is someone with bad behavior.

Please don't scrutinize that distinction too much, because I'm not certain it will hold up.

There's a precedent for this. Saying "jeez" is ok, but saying "Jesus" is blasphemy (stones come hailing down upon Sara K).

Personally I think Canseco is a little overrated in the A-hole category but underrated in any of the following: biggest buffoons, all-time liars and cheaters; or my favorite "the amazingly self-absorbed, self-professed media created stars with limited talent but make for great copy" that features the likes of Neon Deion and TO.
