And it turns out Molina is really really bad at hitting. And other than his 3 - 4 last night, he's been pretty consistently bad at hitting.

Molina is a defensive stud while Mathis/Napoli have allowed something like 30 straight stolen bases, but a .570 OPS is ugly.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16264246154526243474noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9131289420618991795.post-12997664353874593712008-07-22T09:18:00.000-04:002008-07-22T09:18:00.000-04:00I'd bummed to see Posada go under the knife, but i...I'd bummed to see Posada go under the knife, but in trying to maintain a modicum of perspective, this is necessary. The Yanks don't need another DH for 3 years in Posada. They need him to catch.

Molina's defense/arm has been a revelation though sometimes I think he holds the wrong end of the bat.

As for Varitek, I can see Boston being VERY reluctant to go more than 2 years. Maybe they give him a similar "career thank you" contract that Posada got, but for 3 years. Boston's FO is pretty darn smart so you can't seem them over-extending. They were able to let Pedro go, Damon go, Millar go...Jason @ IIATMShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11675184282951841175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9131289420618991795.post-80088729101039361992008-07-22T09:07:00.000-04:002008-07-22T09:07:00.000-04:00do you think anyone in Boston is raising their eye...do you think anyone in Boston is raising their eyebrows at this?

it seems this may be the type of foreshadowing that could be useful in deciding what to do with jason varitek.EricInBostonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00403644983701429316noreply@blogger.com
